28 more Mumbai Police personnel tests positive; Active cases in the force cross 1.2K- mark


According to a data revealed, 28 Mumbai Police personnel has tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of active cases in the force reached to 1,273.

In Mumbai, a total of 10,666 police personnel were infected with coronavirus so far, of whom 126 died.

Meanwhile, 21 more police personnel tested positive for COVID-19 in Pune city yesterday, January 18, after which the number of infected police personnel in the city rose to 504.

As many as 499 police personnel were found infected with coronavirus in Maharashtra. The infected personnel include 95 police officers.

In the state, 821 police officers and 3,269 police personnel (total 4,090) currently remain admitted at various facilities, including home isolation.

The total number of infected police officers in Maharashtra is 5,854 since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020.

A total of 40,959 police personnel, ranging from the rank of the constable to assistant sub-inspector, were found infected in the state. So far, 46 officers and 459 personnel of the Maharashtra police force have succumbed to COVID-19.

Moreover, Maharashtra on Tuesday, January 18, recorded 39,207 new coronavirus cases, 26 per cent more than the previous day, and 53 fresh fatalities linked to the infection, the state health department said.

No fresh case of the highly contagious Omicron variant of coronavirus was reported in the state in the last 24 hours, it added.
