BMC Elections 2022: Devendra Fadnavis To Be BJP’s Face For Polls


According to the latest reports, the opposition leader and former chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will be the BJP‘s face for the upcoming BMC elections

Based on accounts, a four-hour meeting was undertaken by Fadnavis at his official residence, Sagar with BJP’s Mumbai MPs, MLAs and senior party office bearers. Reportedly, after the meeting, BJP MLA Ashish Shelar interacted with the media wherein he elaborated on how the party has its strategy ready for the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. 

Shelar added that they are awaiting the proclamation of the election dates, narratives stated. Several reports claim that the meeting was attended by Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Mumbai party unit president, Gopal Shetty and Manoj Kotak who are MPs as well as Mihir Kotecha, Yogesh Sagar, Atul Bhatkalkar who are MLAs, amongst others.

Shelar was quoted by accounts, elucidating on how they will continue to highlight the “rampant corruption in the BMC, the Shiv Sena‘s apathy towards Mumbaikars”. He added that the lotus will bloom in the BMC and that Fadnavis will be the face of the party for the upcoming elections. 

In the 2017 civic elections, BJP fought independently and won 82 seats. These polls were undertaken when Fadnavis was the CM.
