Mumbai: Significant Fall In Cases Reported, 13,648 Test COVID-19 Positive


With a significant fall in COVID-19 numbers, Mumbai on Monday, January 10, reported 13,648 positive patients according to the data released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). This however can be attributed to the fact that the total tests done were 59,242. 

Of the total cases reported on Monday, 83 per cent which is 11,328 were asymptomatic. Additionally, 798 patients were hospitalized today from which a mere 46 needed oxygen. Of the 35,266 available beds, 7,408 were occupied which is 21 per cent.

Similarly, 27,214 patients recovered and were thus discharged. With this, the total number of active cases reported stands at 103,862. On the other hand, five fatalities were reported due to coronavirus, all of whom had comorbidities and were above the age of 60. While three were male, two were female.

With this, the recovery rate of Mumbai is at 87 per cent. Moreover, the overall growth rate of cases in the island city between January 3 and 9 is at 1.81 per cent. The doubling rate of Mumbai is now at 37 days. 

News agency ANI quoted the BMC saying that Dharavi reported 97 fresh coronavirus cases, taking total active cases in the vicinity to 943.

In accordance with the containment measures taken on January 9, the active containment zones are at 30. The active sealed buildings are at 168.
